Description
The Stone House is a building that appears to date from the early 19th century. Its east wall features a medieval stone arch with chamfered jambs, which gives the impression of leading to a cellar. To the left of the arch, there are remnants of ogee-headed cusping and a semi-circular recess beneath, which may have once held a stoup. These elements might have been relocated from another site. Embedded in the wall below the arch is a stone marked with the date 1689. The house is a single storey structure with two windows facing north and two facing east. It is constructed of stone rubble with red brick window dressings and quoins. The roof is half hipped and covered with slate. The glazing bar is intact, and the north side features segmental-headed window frames with round-headed windows within them. There is also a later wooden gabled porch with trellis work.
