Description
The former stables at Denne Hill were likely built by John Morse between 1774 and 1777. This two-storey building is constructed of red brick and features a tiled roof. It has five windows, with the central section projecting and containing three windows flanked by pilasters on the ground floor. Above these, there are three round-headed windows, each with a lurette window above. Stone stringcourses run above and below these windows. The building has a parapet with a shaped gable at the center, which includes a clock face and is topped by a bell cupola with a tent-shaped lead roof. There are recessed wings, each with one window and a shaped gable above. A carriage entrance is located below the central gable. The gable ends face northwest and southeast. These stables were originally associated with the old Denne Hill, an 18th-century house that has since been demolished.
