Description

Ebony Cottage is a 15th-century timber-framed house located on Reading Street. The building features close-studding, and while the first floor was originally jettied, it is now partly supported by brick. It stands two storeys high with a half-hipped tiled roof, tile-hung gables, and a central brick chimney stack. The first floor has three casement windows with small square panes, including an oriel window that projects on three brackets. The doorway is obtusely pointed and has carved spandrels. Ebony Cottage is part of a group that includes Wellbro Cottage, Skeers House, and Old Barrack Farm.
