Description

Newenden Bridge, also known as "Rother" Bridge, is located partly in Newenden Parish and partly in Northiam Parish, East Sussex. It was built in 1706, reflecting a medieval architectural style. The bridge features three round-headed arches with pointed cutwaters between them on the upstream side, although the lower portions of these cutwaters have been renewed in white brick. On the downstream side, there are shouldered buttresses. The parapet has been renewed and includes slender buttresses, along with circular iron ties.
