Description
Tucker's Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th century or earlier, which was extensively rebuilt in the 17th century. It features a timber frame that is partly exposed, with masonry infill and a red brick front. The building has a plain tiled roof and stands two storeys high, with a garret above a plinth. The roof is half-hipped to the left and hipped to the right, topped with a large, tall cluster of moulded stacks that have cornice caps and tiled weathering.
On the façade, there are three three-light wooden casements on each floor, along with a two-light casement to the centre left on the first floor, all featuring segmental heads on the ground floor. The front door has six panels, with the top two being glazed. The left return shows the exposed frame, and there is a garret casement. At the rear, there is a catslide outshot.
Inside, the farmhouse has a massive stack with inglenooks and a bread oven, along with brick fireplaces on the upper floors, which have been inserted into the full frame, as the front wall has been completely rebuilt with red brick. The interior also features chamfered ceiling beams and much re-used timber. The roof structure includes clasped purlins with re-used and blackened rafters.
