Description
Hewitt House is an L-shaped house located on the north-east side of Hythe Road. The rear part of the building dates from the 17th century or earlier and has been refronted in cement. It is two storeys high and features two small gables above the first-floor windows, along with three casement windows. The front of the house, which faces the road, is from the early 19th century but has undergone alterations since then. The ground floor is constructed of red brick, which was once painted, while the upper part is tile hung. The house has a tiled roof with an eaves cornice and consists of two bays on both floors, although the glazing bars are missing. The entrance features a doorcase with pilasters, a pediment, and a semi-circular fanlight, with a door made up of six moulded panels and a modern hood added above it.
