Description
St John's Croft, located on St John's Street, dates back to 1833 and is a Grade II* listed building. It is a mid-18th century structure featuring two storeys and an attic, constructed of bright red brick with painted stucco window arches, a modillion eaves cornice, and a slate roof. The building has five windows and three dormers. A central projecting porch, added in the late 18th century, is stucco panelled and enriched, topped with a pediment over a round-arched window facing the road, with a door located at the side. The windows are sash style with glazing bars.
The west wing, known as No 35, is lower in height, also has two storeys and an attic, and is made of dark red brick with a high mansard old tile roof and two dormers. It features a modillion eaves cornice and two tripartite casement windows. No 34 is situated at the rear of No 35, constructed of red brick with a tile roof, and consists of one storey and an attic, featuring tripartite casement windows.
