Description

Wolvesey Castle consists of the ruins of a castle built by Bishop Henry de Blois between 1129 and 1171. It served as the original residence for bishops, as noted in the Archaeological Journal from 1902. The castle was destroyed by the Roundheads in 1646. The chapel, which primarily dates from the 15th century, is still in use today. All the listed buildings in The Close are part of a group.
