Description
The gatepiers to the stable yard, located 100 metres northeast of Amport House, were built around 1900. They mark the entrance to the courtyard from Furzedown Lane, situated between the early and later stable buildings. The gatepiers are notable for their size, featuring large ball finials atop bold stone cornices. Each square pier has pilasters at the corners, which include moulded caps and bases, along with rusticated projections. These projections are tied horizontally by recessed panels, with the infilling made of yellow brickwork.
