Description
The Admiralty boundary stone, erected in 1774, is located near the entrance to Fort Blockhouse. It is carved from Portland stone and positioned next to the sea wall at the neck of the peninsula leading to the fort, beyond the site of the original redan and outer works. The stone is rectangular with a pointed top. Although it has weathered significantly, the front (north-east) face still shows faint outlines of several incised inscriptions, including the royal cypher GR (George Rex) with the date 1774 beneath it, and the Admiralty anchor motif below.
