Description
Bay House School, formerly Ashburton House, was built in 1832 by Decimus Burton. It is one of the large mansions associated with Alverstoke. The southeast front features a complex three-storey block with a long east wing that ends in a pavilion. The building is designed in a Gothic Revival style that has some Baronial elements, including gablets and hood moulds above the windows. The walls are made of stone ashlar, and there are moulded eaves, bands, and a plinth. The building also has Tudor chimneys and retains some original interiors.
