Description

Abbey Cottage, now divided into two houses, has a 16th and 17th century core, but was extended and remodelled in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The building is constructed of red brick, with a plinth and a rendered first floor. It features an off-centre, gabled porch. The roof is tiled, with an off-centre chimney and an end chimney. The cottage is two storeys high and has four windows with early 19th century style casements. Inside, there are two stone Tudor four-centred fireplaces and a 16th century staircase with short flights, pendants, and turned balusters. Abbey Cottage and the nearby Fisherman’s Arms form a group with Stony Bridge and Fishers Hill.
