Description

The barn at Carron Row Farm is likely from the 17th or early 18th century, though it may be even older. It is a timber-framed structure with red brick infill, which has been rendered white. The end wall displays exposed timber framing, with some wall posts also visible in the side wall. The brickwork is arranged in English bond, with vents positioned similarly to those found at the Tithe Barn at Fern Hill Farm. The half-hipped roof is now covered in corrugated iron.

The barn is of an aisled design, comprising six bays, with an additional bay containing a floor, creating a harness room below. It features tie beams, straight braces, and a through-purlin roof, lacking a ridge piece or collars. The timbers are morticed and pegged, although the wall posts appear to have been constructed from sawn timber. There are double wagon entrances with flat roofs along one side.
