Description
A late 18th-century brick boundary wall, extended in 1906, runs alongside a roadway, curving where School Road meets High Street and continuing along High Street. The wall is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, except for a central section which uses English bond. At the north end is a simple arched doorway leading to number 6 Greyladyes. Further along, an entrance doorway serves the Roman Catholic Chapel. This doorway has a rusticated frame topped with a triangular cement feature containing a small niche. South of the chapel, the building meets the wall at an angle, featuring a Gothic stone bell turret with a triangular top. The turret has a pointed arch resting on stepped buttresses, each containing a niche with a carved figure, and an exposed bell. To the east of the turret is a small arched opening containing a circular wrought iron grill. The northern section of the wall, along High Street, has blue headers, a base of rubble stone, and two buttresses.
