Description

Culverton House is an early 19th-century building that has been altered. It stands two storeys plus an attic and is finished in stucco with a slate roof. The ground floor features a central six-panelled door with a modern radial fanlight, set within a deeply projecting broad porch. This porch is supported by unfluted Doric columns that carry bold arches and a balcony adorned with early 19th-century iron railings of a less common design, featuring adorsed wings.

To the left of the porch, there is a modern window set within an unmoulded arch with a bold keystone, followed by a flush sash window with glazing bars and shutters. To the right of the porch, there is another flush sash window with glazing bars and shutters. A broad band runs along the first floor level, which has a central narrow casement window leading onto the porch balcony, flanked by two single narrow casement windows with shutters. These also open onto small balconies that feature early 19th-century railings of the adorsed wings pattern. The building has a moulded eaves cornice.

On the left side, there is significant modern tile-hanging, while on the right side, more windows with small balconies and early 19th-century railings can be found. At the rear, there is a range of offices that ends in an 18th-century pedimented frontispiece.
