Description
Weston Corbett House, originally listed as Weston House, dates from 1720 with later alterations in the 19th century. This symmetrical building has a front (east) elevation of two storeys, an attic, and a cellar, featuring five windows. It is topped by a steep tile roof with leaded hips and a fully-moulded modillion cornice. The house has three dormers, which are from the late 19th century, each with small gables above the middle of the three-light casements. A rainwater head is dated 1720. The walls are made of red brick in Flemish bond, with rubbed flat arches, a first-floor band, and a high plinth. The tall doorway is adorned with a moulded flat canopy supported by double-scroll brackets, and the frame includes a fanlight and half-glazed doors, all above moulded stone steps. The lower rear section of the house was raised and widened in the late 19th century, featuring three gables above an older wall. Inside, there is a fine panelled room with a fireplace surround from the original period.
