Description

The Church of All Saints, formerly known as the Church of St John, dates from around 1140, with additions and alterations made in the 14th century, 1851, and 1887. It features a Norman aisleless nave and a short chancel, along with a small 19th-century vestry and a restored timber bell turret. The chancel contains fragments of early work, suggesting a former apse at the east wall, and includes filled windows alongside 14th-century traceried and cusped windows. The round arch in the chancel rests on cushion and floral caps on attached columns. The nave windows are varied but are all old, and the north door is a Norman design with chevron decoration.

At the west end of the nave, a medieval stair turret provides access to the bell turret, which showcases exposed supporting timbers. Notable fittings within the church include a pulpit from 1651, 17th-century pews, a round 13th-century font supported by three new shafts, and a 17th-century communion rail located at the west end, associated with a 15th-century screen. The 14th-century north porch is timber-framed, featuring an arched entrance, scalloped barge-boards, and a tiled roof. The church's walls are constructed of flint, some laid in a herring-bone pattern, with stone dressings. The large bell turret is adorned with tile-hanging, scalloped bands, and topped with a pyramid roof.
