Description
Malshanger House, built around 1800 with 20th-century alterations, is a three-storey building with an almost square shape and three symmetrical facades. It features a ripped slate roof and stuccoed walls. The south-east elevation has semi-circular walling on either side of a flat centrepiece, creating a pattern of three windows, one of which is a Venetian window with mouldings and pilasters. This facade also includes a small parapet with a moulded cornice adorned with small modillions, a thin cill on the first floor, a wider band with a top moulding, and moulded architraves with keystones for the first-floor openings. The ground and second floors have stone cills, and there is a plinth at the base. The ground-floor doorway consists of three units, flanked by niches and framed by four pilasters that support a simple moulded entablature.
The south-west elevation features a 2.1.1 window arrangement, with a bow-shaped wall extending to the second floor, where a balustraded balcony is located. The central openings consist of three parts, and the side units echo the details of the main facade. There is a modern single-storey extension on the north side with large windows. The north-east (entrance) front has five windows, maintaining the design elements of the other facades, including a first-floor Venetian light and a modern segmental portico with two pilasters and two columns, glazed sides, and classical details such as a dentil cornice.
