Description
Pamber Place House, originally known as Walseford's Farmhouse, dates back to 1665 with additions made around 1900 that match the original style. This building has an H-plan layout and consists of two storeys and an attic. The front, facing east, features forward gables, with the south gable being more elaborately designed. It has a tile roof with a brick dentil verge and a second-floor band on the south side, while the north side has a simpler treatment. The red brickwork is laid in English bond, with a first-floor band and a high plinth; on the south side, these elements connect with pilasters set in from the corners. The windows are leaded casements, consisting of 2-lights in the south gable, 3-lights on the first floor, and 6-lights (with mullions and a transom) on the ground floor. The north gable features a window above a 3-light window and includes a stone plaque with the year 1665 in raised characters. Between the two gables, the recessed front has a large dormer above a porch, created by extending the roof forward to a low eaves. The south side has four bays, with the westernmost bay being modern but still divided by pilasters, and features casements (with mullions and a transom on the ground floor). The forecourt is enclosed by a roadside wall that is raised at each end and in the center, where it is marked by gatepiers topped with ball finials.
