Description

Upper Cufaude Farm House is a house dating back to the 16th century, with significant alterations made in the early 19th century. It is an L-shaped timber-framed building, with the angle later filled in. The house has two storeys and an attic. The roof is tiled, with brick dentil eaves on the west side. The original timber frame is exposed on the east gable, featuring close-studding in the upper part, and portions of the main frame are visible on the north wall. The rest of the house is brick-clad, primarily in English bond. The west wall has a deep plinth, with old brickwork in English bond up to ground-floor cill height; above this, the brickwork is red in Flemish bond with blue headers, a flush blue header band at first-floor level, and cambered openings on the ground floor. The south elevation features a substantial brick stack attached to each of the two gables, and a brick porch is positioned centrally. Several sliding sash windows, dating to the early 19th century, are present, alongside more recent casement windows. Minor additions are visible on the east and north sides of the building.
