Description
Beckets is a Grade II* listed building located on the south side of The Street in Framfield. Originally known as The Hawthorns, this T-shaped building dates back to the 15th century and features a timber frame with plaster infilling. The first floor is close-studded, while the ground floor has been rebuilt in red brick, distinguished by a moulded bressummer. A small oriel window with diamond-shaped panes projects on brackets from the first floor, and the gable oversails on curved brackets with a moulded bressummer. There is also a small blocked window. The roof is tiled, and the building has casement windows. At the east end, a three-storey tower was added in the 19th century, and the west front has been refaced with painted brick.
