Description
Framfield Place is an early to mid-19th century house, significantly remodelled in the late 19th century by Norman Shaw and Sir Edwin Lutyens. It is a two-storey building with six windows, constructed of stucco and featuring a cornice and blocking course, topped with a slate roof. The front elevation is arranged with two bays of three windows each. The upper floor has sash windows with glazing bars, while the lower floor features French windows. A central porch is supported by Doric columns, and a Doric loggia is situated on the garden front. A long domestic and nursery wing was added to the west in the late 19th century. The interior includes an elliptical billiard room decorated with neo-Adam plasterwork by Norman Shaw. Notable features are a good staircase with a plaster frieze and a saloon with neo-Jacobean panelling in the style of Norman Shaw, designed by Lutyens.
