Description
The barn on the west side of the stable yard at Wootton Manor dates from the early 19th century. Its walls are constructed of brick up to mid-height, featuring three courses of inclined headers alternating with one course of stretchers, while the upper part is made of inclined knapped flints arranged in courses. The barn has brick quoining at all angles and jambs and is topped with a hipped slate roof. It is a five-bay threshing barn with central opposing wagon doorways. The doorway on the east side, facing the yard, has a shallow segmental brick arched head and later brick infill. There are upper and lower rows of vent slits on either side of the doorways and at the ends of the barn. The trusses include braced principal beams and collar ties. The east wall at the north end is obscured by the adjoining west range of stables. A range of farm buildings to the south of the barn is not included in this listing. The barn is included for its group value only.
