Description

The Old Grammar School is a building located on Church Street in Uckfield, dating from the early 19th century. It is two storeys high and features three windows on the front, which is finished in stucco. The façade includes two curved bays, each with three windows on both floors, and the glazing bars are intact. There is an eaves cornice and a tiled roof. The entrance has a doorway with pilasters and a cornice, and above it is a stone cartouche dated 1898. Behind this façade lies an early 17th-century timber-framed structure that extends south, with the first floor being tile-hung. There is one 17th-century window with small square panes, and a modern wing has been added beyond this.
