Description
The Former Maiden's Head Hotel is an L-shaped building located in Uckfield, with the west wing at the back partly timber-framed. The front of the building is divided into two sections. The northern half dates from the 18th century and features three storeys and an attic, with four windows and four dormers. The exterior is finished in painted brick or mathematical tiles, topped with a parapet and a hipped tiled roof. There are two curved bays flanking the front, and the glazing bars are intact. The doorway has a modern curved hood.
The southern half of the building is from the early 19th century and has two storeys with three windows, also in painted brick or tiles. It features an eaves bracket cornice and a hipped slate roof, with a Venetian window in the centre of the first floor, and the glazing bars are intact.
