Description
This is a barn with stabling and a hayloft that adjoins Sheffield Mill Farmhouse. It dates back to the 16th century and was extended and reclad in the 18th century. The exterior features a base made of two courses of sandstone, some Flemish bond brickwork, and weatherboarding on the right-hand side, along with some stretcher bond brickwork. The roof is half-hipped and covered with peg tiles. The building is two storeys high and has three cambered casements on the ground floor, along with a doorcase. There are later double doors and a dovecote on the end elevation. Inside, the barn has three bays that originate from the 16th century, with two additional bays added in the 18th century. The original section includes 16th-century jowled corner posts, and above this is a through purlin roof featuring a collar beam and pegged rafters.
