Description

Shernfold Park is a large house built in 1855 for P Ashburnham, designed by the architect Lewis Vulliamy. It is three storeys high and has nine windows. The house is constructed of ashlar, with a string course and a dentilled eaves cornice. The roof is hipped and covered in slate, with most of the original glazing bars remaining. The central three window bays are recessed, while the flanking bays project and feature rustication. Long and short quoins are present at the outer angles of the facade. A tall porch is positioned centrally, featuring Doric pilasters and a balustraded parapet. A late 19th-century addition of three windows was added to the north-east, incorporating a gabled roofline at the north end.
