Description
Cranesden is a building that is said to date from the 14th century, with traces of work from the 16th and 17th centuries. It was extensively remodeled in the late 19th century. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a south elevation made of red brick. It features a hipped tiled roof with tall 19th-century red brick chimney stacks and two gabled dormers. The facade includes three projecting bays with casement windows. Behind the exterior, some 16th-century timbering is exposed. The ground floor is close-studded with a moulded bressummer above, and the first floor displays star-shaped panels. There is a coved eaves cornice, and later 19th-century extensions are finished in red brick and tile hanging. Inside, the building contains exposed moulded beams.
