Description
Cowbeech House, dated 1731, is a two-storey building with an attic and five windows. Originally constructed of red brick, it has been refaced with stucco. The house features a modillion eaves cornice and a central gable that has modillions designed as a pediment, with an attic window in the tympanum and a crest of a gryphon rampant below it. The roof is half-hipped and tiled, with a chimney stack on each side of the half-hip. The windows have slightly cambered head linings and retain their glazing bars. The doorway is topped with a flat hood supported by brackets, has a rectangular fanlight, and features a door with six fielded panels. Above the door is a small panel displaying a shield with the date 1731. On either side of the doorway are narrow recessed panels that contain an iron two-headed eagle arising from a coronet; these originally stood on gate-posts at another house before being relocated here.
