Description

This is an 18th-century cottage, originally named Malcolm Marney, located on West Street, Mayfield. It is a two-storey building with four windows. The upper portion of the cottage is faced with weather-boarding, while the base is constructed of red brick. A dentilled eaves cornice runs along the top, and the roof is tiled. The original glazing bars in the windows remain intact. The ground floor has two bays, and features a doorway with a rectangular fanlight and a flat hood above a six-panel door. A doorway, originally located at the front of the house, has been moved to the south-west wall. This doorway is distinguished by Doric pilasters, a pediment, a semi-circular fanlight, and a door of six fielded panels.
