Description
The Thatched Barn at Old Marsham Farm is a barn, likely used for threshing with a hayloft, dating from the late 18th century. It has four bays and features a plinth made of coursed sandstone. The walls are constructed with bands of three courses of pebbles, accented by brick header lacing courses and quoins. The roof is half-hipped and thatched. There is an off-central entrance on the east side, along with two tiers of ventilation slits. The left side elevation includes a blocked cambered entrance in the gable, which was probably originally for a hayloft. Inside, it has a queen-post structure with staggered purlins. This barn is a notable example of late 18th-century architecture using local materials.
