Description

The Oasthouse is located to the southwest of Abbey Farmhouse in Robertsbridge. This building has medieval origins but was remodeled in the 19th and 20th centuries. It originally served as the warming house of the Abbey, and the ground floor of the existing structure likely dates back to that time. The building is constructed of ashlar stone. It was later converted into two square oasthouses, a granary, and a cart-shed, which have now been transformed into a house. The ground floor of the house is set back on the north side, supported by wooden columns from the cart-shed. The first floor is weather-boarded, while the rear features red brick. The building has two storeys and three windows, topped with a tiled roof.
