Description

Socknersh Manor is an early 17th century timber-framed building with an irregular plan that has been restored and enlarged. It stands two storeys high and features four windows. The exterior is characterized by red brick infilling arranged in herring-bone and geometrical patterns, topped with a tiled roof. The building has casement windows and two doorways, each adorned with gabled hoods supported by carved male figures, which are referred to in local tradition as "the baby eaters." Inside, the manor retains contemporary panelling and an overmantel.
