Description
Ashdown House and the premises to the south, occupied by F J Jarvis (Butcher), is an early 19th-century building. It stands two storeys tall and features four windows, constructed of red brick with alternating grey headers. The building has a slate roof, and the glazing bars are intact. At the west end, there is a modern shop window with a 19th-century canopy above, supported by iron scroll brackets. A plaque on the wall commemorates George H Pearce, Foreman of East Sussex County Council, who passed away on December 17, 1971, while overseeing the reconstruction of Burwash High Street.
