Description
Sunny Close is a cottage that originated as one bay of a 17th-century timber-framed house. It was extended and reframed in the late 18th century and restored in the 20th century. The front elevation features a red brick ground floor laid in Flemish bond, while the first floor and all other elevations are covered in weatherboarding. The roof is hipped and covered with peg tiles, and there is a brick chimney stack on the west side. The cottage has two storeys and two windows, with a later penticed extension at the rear. At the east end, there are two 19th-century iron casements with slim glazing bars. A gabled porch made of brick and weatherboard leads to a panelled door. Inside, the eastern bay contains a wide spine beam and likely retains a 17th-century wall frame on the first floor, characterized by square panels and some diagonal tension braces. The first floor also features an 18th-century brick fireplace with a cambered surround.
