Description

Captain's Cabin is a mid-18th century building, though earlier in origin, that has undergone significant alterations, including a "Tudorized" style. The front of the building is characterized by exposed wood framing on the first floor, which was originally plastered, and modern brickwork on the ground floor. It has a tiled roof with gable ends and two storeys plus an attic. The front facade originally featured a fine modillion eaves cornice, which has been lost. There are three windows across the front; these are modern 2 and 4-light casements with leaded panes. A modern oriel window sits centrally on the first floor, supported by moulded brackets. Two modern flat-roofed dormers are visible. One end wall is brick and tile-hung. A large, 18th century weatherboarded wing extends to the rear, also with a tiled roof. The building forms part of a group of listed buildings on All Saints' Street.
