Description
The Mill is a disused water mill located in Swallowfield, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick with a slate gabled roof and features a weatherboarded hoist housing. The building has a cross gabled plan with gabled projections on both the north and south fronts and stands three storeys tall with attics.
The mill has a plinth and a string course at the first-floor level. The windows are centre pivoting with glazing bars, set within segmental brick arches made of dark contrasting brick that includes projecting key stones. On the south front, there are two bays with bargeboards supported by brick corbels. The hoist housing is a gabled projection at the top center, with blocked openings on the second floor. There is a planked loading door on the right side of the first floor and a similar door below this on the ground floor, which is set in a deeply recessed entrance, along with a blocked window to the left.
The east front features five bays, with the central three projecting and the window openings on the second floor blocked. There are projecting bracketed brick eaves on either side of the central section.
