Description
The Crown and Cushion Public House, located at 84 and 85 High Street, is a building from the 17th century that was altered in the early 18th century. It features a cement-rendered, channelled ground floor and roughcast on the first and second floors. The structure has three storeys and attics, with four double-hung sash windows in surrounds and three first-floor windows that retain their original glazing bars. There is an early 19th-century bay window supported by slim cast iron columns. The roof is made of Welsh slate and includes three box dormers with two lights each. The right-hand ground floor was formerly a shop numbered 85. The building has an eaves cornice that was previously adorned with modillion and cyma recta mouldings. There was also a stable wing at the back of the property. Nos 84 to 92 form a group of buildings.
