Description
The churchyard wall and gate piers of St Mary's Church in Kingston date from around 1887 to 1889. They are constructed from knapped flint, Portland stone, and yellow stock bricks. The walls are made of random rubble flint set between brick piers, with weathered brick coping. On the west side facing Fratton Road, there are two pairs of gate piers, each made of random rubble flint with long and short stone quoins, a plinth, and a moulded cap. One similar pier remains at the junction with Alver Road. To the north, the gate piers facing St Mary's Road are shorter and feature plain stone caps. The wall has red brick coping and piers that complement the flintwork.
