Description

The Unionist Club, built between 1912 and 1913, features a combination of ashlar stonework and brick, with the upper brick panels finished in pebbledash. It has a steep tiled roof set between raised coped gables and an off-centre brick chimney. This two-storey building with an attic and cellars is designed in an Edwardian Free Style, showcasing a facade that emphasizes balanced asymmetry.

The center section is recessed and includes a two-storey canted bay with eight-pane sash windows. To the left of this bay, there is a keyed arch above the entrance, which is framed by radial voussoirs, and the entrance is accessed by steps leading to a pair of part-glazed doors. To the right of the bay window, a keyed blind oculus is present, with the date 1913 displayed above in a baroque frame. On the first floor to the left of the bay, a glazed door opens onto a railed balcony over the porch arch. The right bay features a tripartite twelve-pane sash window on both floors, while the narrow left bay has a tall panelled door with a deep plain overlight. All openings are topped with ashlar stone lintels that have carved lower arrises. The building also has open rafter eaves and two three-light dormer windows in the roof.

Inside, the entrance leads to a lobby and a staircase to the steward's apartments on the upper floors. The right side of the interior has been modernized and opened up, featuring a long bar.
