Description
Cedar Lodge is a building designed by Wyatt and Brandon, dating from around 1843. It features a compact plan and stands two storeys high with a double roof that has cross gables on opposite sides. The exterior is constructed of squared rubble with pink Derbyshire stone dressings and quoins, topped with a tiled roof. There are gable end chimneys with separate shafts.
The entrance front, facing north, has three windows on the first floor. It includes a two-light casement window with a mullion below a large gable end that has a bargeboard. There are also two gabled half-dormers, with the right-hand dormer featuring a bargeboard. A central projecting gabled porch has a four-centred arch-headed doorway with a label above a plank door. To the left of the porch, there is a three-light rectangular bay window of a later date, with a hipped tiled roof that interlocks with the porch roof. To the right of the porch, there is a mullioned window and additional casements. An extension with a gable is located to the east.
Cedar Lodge is part of a group that includes the Church of St George the Martyr and St George's Vicarage.
