Description
Wolverton Methodist Church is a Grade II listed building, rebuilt in 1892 by Even Harper of Birmingham. It features a gable end facing the street with a square tower on the west side. The church is constructed of brick with stone dressings and is adorned with decorated tracery, strings, kneelers, and coping. The central gabled pinch is highlighted with crockets and finials, and there are recessed entrances on both the left and right sides. Below the gable, an ogee hood mould sits over a pointed arch supported by stone columns. The tip of the gable is also decorated. There are strings above the ground floor and at the impost level of two tall decorated lancets, which have round windows above them. Two additional lancets with hood moulds flank the porch. Above, three gable tip vents are positioned beneath another string. The gable is coped and topped with a pinnacle. The tower consists of three stages, with the belfry on the third stage featuring louvred openings in paired round-headed windows. Corner finials rise through a short parapet, and there is a hexagonal stone base for an unbuilt steeple above. The entrance to the tower also has an ogee hood mould, and the roof is tiled with a spirelet on the ridge.
