Description
Astwood Grange is a house located on the north side of Astwood Main Road, with additional access from Turvey Road. The eastern part of the building dates back to the 17th century and features a timber frame with brick infilling and an old tile roof that is half hipped at the west end, along with a central brick chimney. The house has two storeys and an attic, with the south front displaying three bays of modern casement windows. The eastern gable reveals exposed timber framing, and there is a small timber-framed wing to the north. An early 19th-century west wing has been added, constructed of brick with a hipped slate roof, also two storeys high. This wing features a first-floor band, with one bay on the south front that includes a three-light sash window with an arch decorated with yellow bricks, and a sash window on the first floor. The west front has a modern lean-to porch and a sash window on the left, along with two sash windows on the first floor. Inside, the building retains exposed timber framing, stop-chamfered spine beams, and an original chimney beam in the reconstructed inglenook of the central room.
