Description

Monks Bay Cottage dates to around 1840-50, although it incorporates elements of an earlier fisherman’s cottage. It is a one-storey and attic building constructed of stone rubble with quoins. The roof is slate, with coped gable ends and paired, diagonally-set brick chimneys. Two gabled dormers with trefoil details are visible. The ground floor has two windows and a simple doorway. A small, octagonal structure is linked to the west side; this was likely a former dairy and has a slate roof with a louvred ventilator. The cottage was once connected to East Dene.
