Description
The Brading Gun Shed is a gun shed that likely dates back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century or early 19th century, and it was restored in 1983. It is constructed from Isle of Wight stone rubble, featuring some random tiles, ashlar quoins, and red brick dressings. The building has a renewed tiled roof and is a single storey. It includes a cambered arched doorcase with a pegged wooden architrave and a four-plank ledged and braced door. There is one square window opening with a modern wooden shutter, and the rear elevation has one square wooden mullioned window. This building was used to house the town gun, which was last fired in 1832 to mark the passing of the Reform Act.
