Description
This is a pair of cottages, a shop, and a post office located in Shalfleet. Nos. 1 and 2 date from the 18th century, while part of the shop and post office is from the 19th century. The original section is an 18th-century T-shaped building made of coursed stone rubble, featuring red brick quoins and dressings, topped with a thatched roof and two brick chimneystacks. The building has two storeys and five windows, with 19th-century casements and a deep plinth. There are 20th-century glazed porches, and the left side elevation is covered in stucco. The post office is a 19th-century extension at the rear, rendered with a slate roof and 1930s metal framed casements. Additionally, there is a flat-roofed 20th-century extension to the shop.
