Description
The chimney located 2 meters south of the former boiler and engine house at Goldstone Pumping Station is a Grade II* listed structure built in 1866 for the Brighton Hove and Preston Constant Service Water Supply Company. It features polychrome brickwork in yellow, red, and blue. The chimney is rectangular in plan and stands approximately 29 meters high. Its style and detailing are similar to those of the engine and boiler house to the south. Notable architectural elements include a stepped plinth, a tall rusticated dado, a moulded base, and recessed panels on each front of the shaft with arch-head tops and a linked entablature. The chimney also has a moulded cornice and two-bay arcades on each front, all showcasing similar detailing and a moulded cap.
