Description
Two lamp posts are located in front of the west entrance to the Church of St George on St George's Road in Brighton. These gas standards date from the early to mid 19th century and form a matching pair that frames the entrance. They are made of cast iron and feature a fluted, tapering shaft that rises from a cushion base to a basket capital. Just below the capital, there is a yoke maintenance arm. The lamps are of the Windsor type and retain their original supports, cage, and ventilator cap.
