Description

The Ham War Memorial is a tall cross made of Red Corsehill stone. It stands on a plinth, which has an inscription on the front that reads, 'TO THE MEMORY OF / OUR IMMORTAL DEAD / 1914 - 1918 1939 - 1945 / THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY / THEIR SOULS FOR GOD.' The left side of the plinth lists the names of those who fell in the First World War, while the back commemorates 'CIVILIANS KILLED BY ENEMY ACTION' and those who 'DIED ON ACTIVE SERVICE.' The right side lists the names of the Fallen from the Second World War. The plinth is set on a two-step base, with the bottom step being significantly larger.
