Description
Richmond Church, Estate Almshouses were built in 1843 and designed by William Crawford Stow, a founding member of the Royal Institute of British Architects. This range consists of ten two-storey dwellings, constructed in a composite Romanesque and Tudor style using polychrome brickwork in red, white, and yellow. The steep roof is covered in diamond-shaped tiles and features a parapet. The facade is articulated by four gabled advanced bays, each three windows wide, with a slightly smaller central gable that has an illegible plaque. The gables include oculi, each with three planes of polychromed voussoirs. The round-headed windows and doors also have recessed layers of polychromed voussoirs, and large Tudor-style chimneys flank and emphasize the gables.
